About Mikumi National Park

Mikumi is the most accessible of the southern parks, about four to five hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam. Its open Mkata floodplain is often compared to the Serengeti.

Expect elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and lions, with hippo pools and good birdlife. It’s ideal for a short safari before or after time on the coast.
