About Katavi National Park

Katavi lies in the far west of Tanzania and is one of the country’s least-visited parks. It feels like Africa as it once was — vast floodplains, few roads and fewer vehicles.

Late in the dry season the shrinking rivers draw enormous buffalo herds and pack hippos into the remaining pools, with lions and crocodiles close by.
